Opportunities and Challenges of Biomaterials in Brain Disease.

In recent years, biomaterials have made rapid progress in the application of brain diseases. This review critically examines the latest progress of biomaterials for the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of brain diseases, highlighting their potential to revolutionize therapeutic strategies. The multifaceted roles of biomaterials in neural repair, drug delivery to the brain, the diagnosis, and monitoring of brain diseases are discussed in this review. However, the clinical translation of these biomaterials faces numerous challenges. This review provides a comprehensive overview of various brain diseases, conventional treatment methods, and the design principles of biomaterials tailored for this field. This review summarizes the current state of clinical research and outlines the current challenges and future directions of biomaterials in brain diseases. This review also underscores the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and continuous innovation to overcome existing barriers and fully realize the potential of biomaterials in brain disease management.
