[Qualitative evaluation of an intervention on condom use among Mexican adolescents: criticisms of adultcentrism].
This article qualitatively evaluates the "Usando Condón" intervention aimed at increasing condom use by Mexican adolescents, from the standpoint of criticism of adultcentrism as a system of oppression. A qualitative evaluation was developed through written narratives of 132 people from the experimental group between 15-19 years of age. The intervention consisted of two 90-minute sessions, and thematic analysis was used to analyze the narratives, which were then processed using Nvivo software. The analysis and discussion were based on adultcentrism as a system of oppression. The results of the evaluation were categorized into three themes with respect to: thematic-practical content, facilitator characteristics, and recommendations. The three categories reflected on adultcentrism as a system of oppression and a critique of the power-knowledge discourse of traditional sexual health interventions emerged. It was perceived that the intervention was implemented without taboos, with real examples where the people involved were peers, that the person implementing the intervention was young, that there was enough material to model condom use and that it was a safe space to share doubts. Above all, it was considered that the intervention promoted the exercise of sexual rights.
