Copper/Bis(imine)-Catalyzed Fluoroalkylative Thiocyanation of Unactivated Alkenes
A method for the radical difunctionalization of nonactivated alkenes using fluorinated halides and thiocyanate anion is described. A combination of cheap copper(I) thiocyanate with a readily accessible bis(imine) ligand promoted the reaction under purple light irradiation without additional photocatalyst. The method is applicable to chloro- and bromodifluoroacetate, as well as to other fluorinated bromides, and tolerates a wide variety of functional groups.
