A step toward sustainable development: Role of energy transition, eco-innovation and environmental policy stringency
While minimizing environmental impacts and fostering economic growth, energy transition, eco-innovation and environmental policy stringency play crucial roles in the attainment of sustainable development. In this regard, present study aims to investigate the roles of energy transition, eco-innovation, environmental policy stringency and globalization in mitigating CO2 emission and fostering sustainable development. The Method of Moments Quantile Regression (MM-QR) approach is applied to panel data of BRICS countries from 2001 to 2022. Additionally, Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares (FMOLS) and Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares (DOLS) statistical modules are also used to check the cointegration in panel datasets before applying MM-QR test. Results report the strong negative association between CO2 emission and energy transition, eco-innovation, environmental policy stringency from lower to higher quantiles. Conversely, globalization is negatively association with carbon emission across all quantiles. The study provides policy implications to BRICS nations for the sustainable development through energy transition supported by well-designed environmental policies and eco-innovation.
期刊介绍:
Gondwana Research (GR) is an International Journal aimed to promote high quality research publications on all topics related to solid Earth, particularly with reference to the origin and evolution of continents, continental assemblies and their resources. GR is an "all earth science" journal with no restrictions on geological time, terrane or theme and covers a wide spectrum of topics in geosciences such as geology, geomorphology, palaeontology, structure, petrology, geochemistry, stable isotopes, geochronology, economic geology, exploration geology, engineering geology, geophysics, and environmental geology among other themes, and provides an appropriate forum to integrate studies from different disciplines and different terrains. In addition to regular articles and thematic issues, the journal invites high profile state-of-the-art reviews on thrust area topics for its column, ''GR FOCUS''. Focus articles include short biographies and photographs of the authors. Short articles (within ten printed pages) for rapid publication reporting important discoveries or innovative models of global interest will be considered under the category ''GR LETTERS''.
