[Soviet military dentistry in the years of the Great Patriotic War].
The objective of the study is to analyze the system of organization and care of the patients with maxillofacial wounds and dental pathology, the feature of their evacuation, as well as progress in the treatment of maxillofacial injuries during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. It was noted that the elements of assistance system for the patients with maxillofacial wounds and their evacuation, as well as the proposed therapeutic methods used during the Great Patriotic War, had previously undergone detailed testing during the battles at Lake Khasan (1939) and the Khalkhin Gol (1939) and during Soviet-Finnish (Winter) war (1939-1940).The special activity of the medical service during the Great Patriotic War was evident in connection with the provision of medical care to the population and treatment at all stages, during which medical and medical measures were taken from the conditions of the military and health situation. Author presents data on the treatment of maxillofacial wounded in the army, military, front-line and inland regions. The author describes the success in the development and use of new methods for restoring the shape and function of damaged facial organs, which reduced the treatment and rehabilitation periods. This success ensured more than 81% of return for facial wounds patients, and 95.5% for the patients with isolated soft tissue injuries.
