[An overall concept for the psychotherapeutic treatment of residents of retirement homes with traumatic life experiences - A qualitative pilot study].

This pilot study examines obstacles, facilitating factors, and indicators of change in implementing a psychotherapeutic care model for elderly residents with traumatic experiences in a senior care facility.Three qualitative focus group interviews were conducted with various staff groups (nurses, management, social care) from the facility and analyzed using qualitative content analysis.Key factors facilitating the model's success included improved interdisciplinary communication and professional and emotional support among team members. Main obstacles were communication challenges within the team and biases from family members. Several indications pointed to psychological improvements among residents.The newly developed treatment concept was successfully implemented in an initial model facility. Findings highlight the crucial role of nursing staff involvement in the psychotherapeutic care of residents in senior care settings.
