Their wide applications necessitate the continuous search for better synthetic methods. Green synthesis is the present-day requirement which includes application of different techniques such as microwave and ultrasound assisted synthesis, application of ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents etc. Bridged nitrogen-based ionic liquids (NILs) are new found research interest due to their tunable properties and enhanced stability in the synthesis of N-containing heterocycles. The present review provides a comprehensive overview of the green synthetic methods involved in the synthesis of Five Membered N–Heterocycles, for example, oxazolidinones, imidazoles, pyranopyrazoles, triazoles, tetrazoles, benzimidazoles, etc., using Bridged N–based Ionic Liquids.The ILs offers numerous advantages like green conditions, shorter reaction time, good recyclability, and, low catalyst loading.
