The concept of recovery and outcome after stroke has also progressed during this time. However, the connection between genomics and stroke recovery has only begun to emerge in a more structural and comprehensive way. Different types of outcomes and recovery occur after stroke. This depends on domain of neurological deficit, severity, resilience, receptivity for rehabilitation measures, and concomitant morbidity. Methods for assessing stroke patients' prognosis depend on these factors. Different genetic approaches are possible and there is an increasing need for linking genetic findings to other omics as well as to clinically meaningful results.
