To date, there has been no comprehensive review focused on the use of hydrogel adhesives for wound closure in abdominal digestive organs. This review introduces the design principles of hydrogel adhesives tailored for abdominal organs and provides a detailed overview of recent advances in their applications for esophageal endoscopic submucosal dissection, gastric perforation, hepatic bleeding, pancreatic leakage, and intestinal anastomotic leakage. Additionally, the current challenges and future directions of hydrogel adhesives are discussed.
