Does green training foster green service innovation? The influence of organizational learning capability and human capital
Green service innovation is pivotal to improving environmental sustainability across all sectors, including hospitality and tourism. The extant research has under-studied how green training drives environmental conservation through green service innovation. Informed by a natural resource-based view, this study examines a dual mediation mechanism of organizational learning capability and human capital to assess the association between green training and green service innovation. A time-lagged research approach was applied using a survey of 283 participants from Italian hotels, and the data was tested through PLS-SEM. The results include that (i) green training positively influences green service innovation, and (ii) organizational learning capability and human capital have been identified as pivotal mediators in translating green training into green service innovation. These novel contributions can help the hospitality industry transform conventional services into green service innovation to align the organizational agenda with environmental preservation.
