Nadezhkin","doi":"10.1007/s11182-025-03420-4","DOIUrl":null,"url":null,"abstract":"<div><p>Digital image correlation (DIC) is used to analyze local strain distribution in bimetal composite specimens produced by electron beam additive manufacturing from low-carbon steel and austenitic stainless steel in the as-built state and after its annealing at 680 °C and 950 °C. It is found out that plastic deformation tends to localize in each layer of the composites according to the loading stages. The yield stage (<i>n</i> = 0) and the related Lüders deformation are suppressed. In the parabolic hardening stage (<i>n</i> = 0.5), the local elongation strain ε<sub><i>x</i><i>x</i></sub> is observed to form a stationary periodic distribution of localized strain zones. Structure and deformation behavior in stainless/carbon steel composite
