Emerging technologies for basic human needs: A TCCM approach to systematically reviewing metaverse intervened wellness
This study offers a comprehensive review of metaverse intervened wellness using the Theory-Context-Constructs-Methodology (TCCM) framework and bibliometric coupling on 49 articles selected systematically applying inclusion and exclusion criteria. Studies measuring virtual well-being were clustered and manually themed starting with bibliometric coupling. This results in six themes as: 1) Virtually enhanced user experience and well-being; 2) Enriching holistic well-being through material and virtual consumption integration; 3) Multifaceted exergames' experience: motivations, engagement, and impacts; 4) Embodied realities: traversing virtual vs 2D and physical landscapes; 5) Extended selves through transformative experiences; and 6) Drivers of intention and continued usage of AR games. Further, theories(T), contexts(C), constructs(C), and research methods(M) framework revealed the dominance of single theory application, socialization, and presence constructs using experiment designs. The review highlights the need for artificial intelligence (AI) integration in developing customer knowledge management to offer personalized wellness solutions in the metaverse. Additionally, the need to explore psychological theories and constructs has been outlined for future scholars.
