Balancing restoration targets and production demands in the EU

The European Union (EU) Nature Restoration Regulation (NRR) outlines ambitious targets for habitat restoration by 2030. An integrated spatial planning approach shows that strategic implementation of the NRR can be compatible with shifting land demands for agriculture and forestry while yielding biodiversity and climate mitigation benefits.
