A Compact Independent Dual-Polarized 2-Bit Phased-Array Antenna
In this letter, we introduce a low-cost, independently dual-polarized electronically scanned array. It incorporates two orthogonal microstrip dipoles with miniaturized cascaded 90$^\circ$ phase shifter to achieve a dual-channel configuration, which improves the capabilities of antenna. By manipulating the states of p-i-n diodes, it becomes possible to precisely control over the radiation patterns. A 2-D planar array consisting of 64 active elements operating at a working frequency from 4.8 GHz to 4.9 GHz is fabricated and measured. Shared 2-bit phase control allows for the simultaneous steering of dual-polarized beams in the same direction. This array provides a wide range of beam scanning within $\pm {\text{45}}^\circ$ allowing for the implementation of scannable beams. The measured results agree well with the simulation ones, demonstrating the excellent scanning performance of the antenna array.
期刊介绍:
IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters (AWP Letters) is devoted to the rapid electronic publication of short manuscripts in the technical areas of Antennas and Wireless Propagation. These are areas of competence for the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (AP-S). AWPL aims to be one of the "fastest" journals among IEEE publications. This means that for papers that are eventually accepted, it is intended that an author may expect his or her paper to appear in IEEE Xplore, on average, around two months after submission.
