Hibiscus sidiformis Baill. (Magnoliopsida: Malvales: Malvaceae): A New Addition to the Flora of India

In the present communication, Hibiscus sidiformis Baill. is reported as a new record for India from the arid region of Kachchh district, Gujarat state. The newly reported species shows a close similarity with the resembling resident species Hibiscus lobatus (Murray) Kuntze. A detailed taxonomic description with the palynological comparison is provided for the first time. The extension in the native range of H. sidiformis from Africa to Asia is proposed.
