Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition associated with many comorbidities that impact disease severity, alter quality of life and potentially shorten patient life expectancy. Dermatologists play a pivotal role in diagnosing, treating, and coordinating the multidisciplinary care essential for these patients, who are often underserved. Early screening and management of comorbidities can be initiated by dermatologists, but proper training and awareness of the disease's specific characteristics are essential for all involved. In France, the average delay in diagnosis remains approximately eight years, contributing to both surgical and medical mismanagement. Therapeutic education seems particularly well-suited for addressing this condition; however, the substantial decline in the number of dermatologists in France poses a challenge to implementing this time-intensive approach.
