Testicular ischemia was induced in groups 2, 3, 4, and 5. Subsequently, the treatment was performed on groups 3, 4, and 5 for 3 weeks daily. Sections of testes were collected on day 21. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) were assessed by real-time PCR, and their activities were analyzed. Factors such as increased production of free radicals and inflammatory cytokines as well as damage to blood vessels may play a role in the development of postreperfusion injury. Compounds containing antioxidants may inhibit or reduce complications caused by testicular torsion by neutralizing free radical activity.

Objectives: This study investigates the evaluation of the therapeutic efficacy of Cymbopogon citratus hydroalcoholic extract (CCHE) and vitamin E coadministration against complications caused by testicular torsion.

Methods: Thirty male Wistar rats were allocated into five groups of six: (1) negative control; (2) positive control (sham); (3) intraperitoneally (CCHE); (4) vitamin E intramuscularly; and (5) coadministration of CCHE and vitamin E.
