Photoluminescent assay and imaging for effective modulation of photothermal events on enhanced cancer therapy developed via analytical techniques
With rapid development of analytical techniques, photoluminescent assay and imaging are popularly applied to explore the effect of photothermal therapy, encompassing precise therapeutic guidance and evaluation of therapeutic efficacy. Photothermal therapy as an emerging and evolving technology for tumor treatment is a non-invasive and low-toxic modality. However, photothermal therapy process triggers physiological activities in tumor and surrounding tissues, leading to a series of side effects and poor prognosis. Therefore, the modulation of photothermal therapy-related events is crucial for reducing side effects and amplifying therapeutic effect. In this work, we summarize some recent researches on modulating photothermal therapy-related events to improve therapeutic efficacy, including reducing inflammation, overcoming tumor heat tolerance, and immune activation under photoluminescent assay and imaging guidance. We also highlight the impacts of photothermal therapy-related events and provide promising perspectives on future research directions, prompting us to further explore the mechanisms using photoluminescent techniques developed via analytical chemistry.
