Selective anti-proliferative lignans towards TNBC cells from Knema elegans (Myristicaceae)
Aiming to find new bioactive compounds from Knema elegans, the petroleum ether extract of the twigs and leaves were explored. As a result, thirteen lignans including four new ones were isolated and elucidated. Their structures were determined by extensive spectroscopic analysis and HRESIMS. These lignans were tested for their anti-proliferative activity. Compounds 3 and 4 showed anti-proliferative selectivity to triple negative breast cancer cells (MDA-MB-468) over HER2-positive breast cancer cells (SKBr3 and MCF-7) with SI values up to 8. Moreover, 3 and 4 exhibited less toxic on normal breast cells MCF-10A representing a class of selective anti-proliferative agents.

Manuscripts that detail the isolation of just one new compound are not substantial enough to be sent out of review and are out of scope. Furthermore, where pharmacology has been performed on one new compound to increase the amount of novel data, the pharmacology must be substantial and/or related to the medicinal use of the producing organism.
