Charge-dependent hierarchical self-assembling of fluorinated gold clusters
Au25(SR)18 nanoclusters decorated by semi-fluorinated thiolate ligands (SFL) self-assemble hierarchically depending on the charge state of the nanocluster component; the use of anionic cluster ([Au25]–) resulted in the generation of nanofibers, whereas the neutral counterpart ([Au25]0) gave micron-sized filaments as a result of the twisting of the nanofibers.
