Our study focuses on exploring the impact of electrostatic interactions of aromatic π-electrons of the benzyl group, aimed at enhancing the structural rigidity of cationic Pd complexes. Introduction of an aromatic moiety, which weakly coordinates with the Pd cation, led to a two-fold increase in the stability of the Pd cationic complex compared to complexes lacking any coordinating substituents.
