Design and Research of a High-Temperature Superconducting Flywheel Energy Storage System With Zero-Flux Coils
A novel energy storage flywheel system is proposed, which utilizes high-temperature superconducting (HTS) electromagnets and zero-flux coils. The electrodynamic suspension (EDS) devices, consisting of HTS and zero-flux coils, are employed to provide suspension and guidance forces for the system. In addition, an auxiliary bearing is incorporated to offer support during low speeds or when the system is not in operation. This article discusses the dynamics and electromagnetic characteristics of this innovative energy storage flywheel system.
