Based on the analysis of the dimuon decay angular distributions in the helicity frame, the polar anisotropy, <span><math><msub><mrow><mi>λ</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>ϑ</mi></mrow></msub></math></span>, is measured as a function of the transverse momentum, <span><math><msub><mrow><mi>p</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>T</mi></mrow></msub></math></span>, of the charmonium states, in the 25–120 and 20–100 GeV ranges for the <figure><img></figure> and <span><math><mi>ψ</mi><mrow><mo>(</mo><mn>2S</mn><mo>)</mo></mrow></math></span>, respectively. The non-prompt polarizations agree with predictions based on the hypothesis that, for <span><math><msub><mrow><mi>p</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>T</mi></mrow></msub><mo>≳</mo><mn>25</mn><mspace></mspace><mtext>GeV</mtext></math></span>, the non-prompt <figure><img></figure> and <span><math><mi>ψ</mi><mrow><mo>(</mo><mn>2S</mn><mo>)</mo></mrow></math></span> are predominantly produced in two-body B meson decays. The prompt results clearly exclude strong transverse polarizations, even for <span><math><msub><mrow><mi>p</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>T</mi></mrow></msub></math></span> exceeding 30 times the <figure><img></figure> mass, where <span><math><msub><mrow><mi>λ</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>ϑ</mi></mrow></msub></math></span> tends to an asymptotic value around 0.3.
