It also sought to investigate the correlation between the type of diet in conjunction with DAI and the scores on GAD 7-Item Scale in adults. A cross-sectional design was used to examine if DAI was lower in individuals with GAD; followed by an interventional study of 40 adults with severe GAD, who were exposed to higher DAI for a period of 6 weeks. The results indicated that participants with severe GAD had significantly lower levels of DAI compared to healthy controls (<i>p</i> < 0.001). After 6 weeks of antioxidant supplementation, a significant decrease in GAD-7 scores of participants was observed (<i>p</i> < 0.001).
