In recent years, some progress has been made in the development of organic photovoltaic materials and devices with NIR II-region response. This review provides an overview of the design strategies for NIR organic photovoltaic materials, followed by a classification and summary of representative organic NIR II-region responsive materials and their performance in OSCs and OPDs.
