Trazer de volta o conflito: Schmitt sobre o político

This paper proposes an analysis of the essential criteria for defining the concept of the political as formulated by Carl Schmitt. The friend and enemy duality, as a criterion of differentiation par excellence, consists of the elementary foundation for the definition of the political. Schmitt seeks to highlight the controversial nature of a conflictual dimension underlying the political, turning against the alleged attempts of liberalism to try to remote not only the centrality of the conflict, but also its autonomous character, promoting depoliticization and transforming the enemy into an adversary. Then, the aim is to reconstruct part of Schmitt’s argument in his search for an identification criterion for demonstrating the autonomy of the political.
