It proposes the examination of the influence of attachment styles and boundary-setting with parents and caregivers on the onset of paraphilic behaviors, as highlighted in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). By broadening the scope of research on the etiology of paraphilias, this review aims to identify a wider range of causal factors, ultimately aiding in the creation of more accurate treatment plans.
