Within this framework, the present paper illustrates the advanced fatigue assessment of an Italian riveted railway bridge selected as a case study. For this purpose, multi-scale finite element modelling of the bridge was developed, and the most critical details were assessed through application of the advanced strain energy density (SED) method.
