The reaction of [(dpp-bian)<sup>2−</sup>Yb<sup>2+</sup>(DME)<sub>2</sub>] with phenazine (phz) gave the dimeric complex [{(dpp-bian)Yb(DME)}<sub>2</sub>(μ-η<sup>3</sup>:η<sup>3</sup>-phz)] • 2 DME (<b>2</b>), in which two cationic {(dpp-bian)Yb(DME)} units are connected <i>via</i> a bridging phenazine dianion. Compounds <b>1</b> and <b>2</b> were characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy. Their molecular structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.
