Comparative studies of the wear of borated layers with different morphologies show the advantages of layers with a composite structure in a wide range of sliding speeds from 0.05 to 3 m/s. The maximum effective protection time is provided by borated layers which combine a compact structure with a composite one under harsh operating conditions.
