THE QUESTION OF THE ORGANIZATION OF FUNCTIONAL ZONES IN ELDERLY REHABILITATION CENTERS
In most modern countries, significant strides have been made in the social sphere to cater to the needs of children, foster the education of youth, and provide conducive working environments for adults. However, challenges persist when it comes to catering to the needs of the elderly population. The issue is compounded by the escalating numbers of elderly individuals across various nations, with China being particularly affected due to historical state birth control policies. This demographic shift is not exclusive to China but is also emerging in other populous nations. Consequently, there is an urgent need to prioritize the establishment and enhancement of social welfare institutions and rehabilitation centers. A critical aspect of this endeavor is the development of well-designed architectural and planning solutions for these facilities, encompassing various functional zones such as the entrance, residential areas, medical and rehabilitation centers, spaces for physical activity and recreation, social adaptation areas, leisure zones, and economic facilities. The creation of comfortable and purposeful environments within these institutions is essential for addressing the evolving needs of the aging population and ensuring their overall well-being.
