He remained in this position for a long time, exposed to the flames, and suffered serious burns. During the first nine days, physicians used topical agents and dressings, associated with internal drugs, particularly quinine. But septicemia occurred after about two weeks. By February 20<sup>th</sup>, Stanislaw was in a very poor condition. Some stimulating drugs were administered, but he died three days later.
