A QUASI-EXPERIMENTAL STUDY TO ASSESS THE EFFECTIVENESS OF TOPICAL APPLICATION OF HONEY ON ORAL MUCOSITIS AMONG HEAD AND NECK CANCER PATIENTS UNDERGOING RADIATION THERAPY IN TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL OF AMRITSAR, PUNJAB.
Cancer is the leading cause of death around the world. Radiation therapy is made to kill growing cancer cells but certain normal cells get effected too, this damage to normal cell cause side effects of radiation therapy. The most debilitating side effect is radiation induced Oral Mucositis. This is major concern for attention, so there is need to provide conventional therapies to head and neck cancer patients to reduce the severity of oral mucositis. A Quasi-experimental study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of topical application of honey among 60 head and neck cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy at Sri Guru Ram Dass Institute of Medical Science and Research, Vallah, Amritsar, Punjab.
