Mediating Effect of Resilience in the Relationship between Transition shock and Nursing Professional Pride during the COVID-19 Pandemic in Korean Nurses

This study aimed to explore the mediating effect of resilience in the relationship between transition shock and nursing professional pride among nurses working at hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants included 167 nurses. Data were collected from September to October, 2022 using self-reported questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe’s test, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, multiple regression, A mediation analysis was performed according to the Baron and Kenny method. and Sobel test. There are significant relationships between nursing professional pride and transition shock(r=-.30, p<.001), nursing professional pride and resilience(r=.35, p<.001), and resilience and trasition shock(r=-.29, p<.001). Resilience showed partial mediating effects in the relationship between transition shock and nursing professional pride. Thus, it is required to develop interventions to improve nursing professional pride and to strengthen resilience. It is necessary also to prepare programs and strategies to reduce nurses’ transition shock.
