Though the Pure Land notion of “easy practice” (Jp. <em>igyō</em> <styled-content lang=\"zh-Hans\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:ifp=\"http://www.ifactory.com/press\">易行</styled-content>) may be seen as Zen’s less rigorous counterpart, Shinran’s turn toward “other-power” (<em>tariki</em> <styled-content lang=\"zh-Hans\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:ifp=\"http://www.ifactory.com/press\">他力</styled-content>) is driven by the same philosophical debates over practice and liberation that occupied contemporaries such as Dōgen.
