In this study, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 50 respondents. The results showed that 98% of respondents knew slang terms and 96% of respondents absorbed slang faster than Indonesian. In addition, 8% of respondents use slang with family, 82% of respondents use slang with classmates, and 86% of respondents use slang with friends outside campus. Lastly, this study shows that slang can erode Indonesian. Factors that influence the widespread use of slang include the need to follow trends, interaction with the social environment, and the influence of social media.
