The effects of shock on a pregnant woman’s hormonal balance, on the likelihood of preterm birth, low birth weight, and developmental defects will be analyzed. The neuropsychological mechanisms that cause these phenomena are revealed. Special attention is given to the impact of war stress on the interaction between mother and newborn and the possible negative consequences for the newborn. The article includes an overview of protocols and programs aimed at reducing the negative eff ects of stress and presents recommendations for mothers and health professionals. This will help to develop science- based policies and programs to reduce the negative eff ects of stress and improve the quality of life of mothers and infants.
