Methods This quasi-experimental study used a one group pre-post design. The participants were 41 nursing students. A survey to collect data was conducted twice, before and after education. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 23.0 program with descriptive statistics and paired t-test. Results Communication clarity (t=7.906, p<.001), communication confidence (t=24.623, p<.001) and clinical reasoning competency (t=6.427, p<.001) were significantly improved after education compared to before. Conclusions This study is the first study to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing simulation education for acute deteriorating patients conducted in Korea. The results of this study can be used as basic data to develop a nursing education curriculum for patients with deterioration in Korea in the future.
