Towards Net Zero Energy Buildings: A Review of Barriers and facilitators to the Adoption of Building Energy Efficiency Practices
Energy efficient building is a key issue that has been receiving growing attention in recent times. Adopting energy-efficient practices in buildings can not only save costs but also improves good indoor air and comfort for inhabitants while lowering GHG emissions. This study examines the factors that influence the application of energy conservation practices in buildings, along with the advantages and barriers to implementation. It suggests raising awareness, providing information, implementing proper policies, and creating incentives to provide alternative solutions for building owners. Government supervision, design standards, construction quality, and energy-efficient materials are identified as among the major significant factors influencing building energy efficiency. Additionally, it emphasizes the protracted advantages of building energy efficiency, such as cost savings, lowering the emission of greenhouse gases, enhanced indoor air quality, and well-being for the occupants. The study suggests utilizing cutting-edge innovations like building automation systems as well as IoT devices to improve energy monitoring and conservation. Overall, the study's outcomes offer a blueprint for comprehending the nuanced dynamics of building energy efficiency and lay out a clear course for further investigation.
