Four principles of meme application were established: sticking to the learning objectives; suitable for the students; establishing a close relationship between memes and learning contents; ensuring humor and impression. The meme application process consists of five steps: identifying learning objectives; understanding the students; selecting learning contents; using or designing memes in lessons and evaluating teaching effectiveness. The article proposes some specific methods to apply memes in teaching Vietnamese knowledge as well as practicing language acquisition and creation skills.
