DEVELOPMENT OF INTELLECTUAL AND CREATIVE ABILITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS, POLITICAL SCIENCE AND FOREIGN AREA STUDIES STUDENTS IN THE PROCESS OF STUDYING A “FINE ARTS” TOPIC IN GERMAN LANGUAGE CLASSES
Foreign language in the process of teaching students of the Department of International Relations, Political Science and Foreign Area Studies serves as a conduit for professional knowledge. The author attempts to demonstrate, using the example of teaching in German language the topic “Fine Arts”, that an interdisciplinary approach allows the methodology of retrospective information search to be applied in the analysis of a foreign language text. The foreign language text is considered in the socio-cultural context as an integral information space, which contributes to intercultural communication and dialogue between cultures. The process of teaching a foreign language is viewed not only as a transfer of linguistic knowledge, but also as a means of socializing a person who is ready for the conditions of life in a multinational and multicultural world. The adequacy of the learning process to the real communication becomes one of the methodological requirements for professionally-oriented foreign language learning. The author claims that even knowing German at a sufficiently high level (B2 CEFR), the effectiveness of communication in a foreign language can be reduced due to a lack of knowledge about extralinguistic reality, as language is nothing but a product of the historical development of society and culture. The method of searching for retrospective information in a foreign language educational text is one of the mechanisms to overcome such limitations.
