Microwave optical technologies are well dedicated to this purpose. In a previous paper, we have studied a directly-modulated optical link. Thanks to new experimentations with external-modulated optical links, we compare those two kinds of optical link with coaxial cable link, while subjected to severe environmental conditions. Then, we design, realize and optimize three OEO with the external modulation links at 3.2, 10 and 26 GHz.
