Optimal ratio of array spacing and reflector focal length in array-fed reflector antenna
In this work optimal ratio of reflector ratio f/D and feed array spacing in focusing type array-fed reflector antenna (AFR) with single offset parabolic reflector is determined. In order to maximize aperture efficiency factor (AEF) of antenna, the ratio f/D is varied at several values of array spacing. The procedure is implemented for different number of excited elements in a cluster and different beam scan angle. For each antenna configuration aperture efficiency factor and element use efficiency (EUE) are calculated. It is shown that optimal feed array spacing increases with increase of f/D, and these values are connected. Also, it is shown that there is an optimal ratio between aperture efficiency and element use efficiency.
