Investigation of Change of The Time Parameters of Transient Signals in The Distribution Grids 6 (10) kv for the Problem of Traveling-Wave Fault Location
To date, a considerable number of domestic and foreign publications are devoted to research in the field of automated fault location (FL) in power transmission lines of medium voltage distribution grids. This is due to the urgency of the problem of reducing the time of FL in the case of network accidents, and the corresponding improvement in the quality indicators of power supply for consumers “SAIDI” (System Average Interruption Duration Index) and “SAIFI” (System Average Interruption Frequency Index). Among the other methods of FL, the most promising is the traveling-wave method of FL (TWFL), based on the recording of signals of the transient process arising in the network in emergency situations. The TWFL is already used in high voltage grids and shows satisfactory results. So, the devices of the American company “Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories” can, according to the company's own statements, determine the location of damage in overhead transmission lines with accuracy of one tower span [1]. For operation of such devices, the presence of measuring current and voltage transformers inside transformer substations is obligatory, because their own insulation is not sufficient for working with high voltage.
