In large scale wind farm the number of wind generators is more in numbers and hence detailed modeling of wind farm is more delicate and increases simulation time. To make it simpler, aggregation of wind farm is needed. Aggregation means representing whole wind farm into equivalent models. This dynamic equivalent reduces system order with most of the characteristics retained and also reduces simulation time to a greater extend with reasonable accuracy. This method is very useful in investigating dynamic and transient stability studies. Various aggregated models are developed and simulations studies are carried out using PSCAD/EMTDC software package. The results obtained with a detailed model and an aggregated model show high degree of correspondence and accuracy between them during normal and disturbance condition.
