Efekti-X dhe domosdoshmëria për trajtim të sërishëm ortodontik

The X-effect, also commonly known in contemporary literature as the “Twist effect” or “Wire syndrome”, presents the occur- rence of sudden and unwanted movement on retainer bonded teeth. The X-effect is associated with additional complications to the teeth and periodontium that develop as a result. This pa- per presents the clinical retreatment of a patient who presented himself with an X-effect, 11 years after the completion of the previous orthodontic treatment. Although more research is required, aplication of certain orthodontic treatment methods and forces which doesn ́t exceed the biological limits of the tooth movement and passive adaptation of the retainer, could minimize the incidence of these complications.
