Sizing and Performance Comparison of Two Types of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generators for Wind Power Generation in Northern Benin
The goal of our study is to size and compare the performance of two types of permanent magnet synchronous generators in the context of electrical power generation. The first generator is internal rotor and the second external rotor. The study of the wind profile at 50m from the ground in the area of Banikoara located in Alibori in the north of Benin shows that this site has a good wind potential. We have therefore chosen this area to size each of the two generators for an average wind speed of 6. 5m/s. The simulation of the inner and outer rotor generators obtained after sizing was done using the finite element method with the Altair F1ux_2D-2020 software. The curves of induction, electromagnetic torques, currents and also voltages obtained are presented and analyzed. The results showed that the synchronous generator with outer rotor is more efficient than the one with inner rotor and that it is better adapted to the production of electric energy by wind turbine in the area of Banikoara in the north of Benin.
