The role of the Great Silk Road in the development of urban planning culture in Central Asia

This article reveals history of relations between the peoples inhabiting the vast region of Central Asia, connected by a single artery of the Great Silk Road. This region experienced intensive integrating of economic, trade, culture, including urban planning values. The influence of the political situation at different times of the Great Silk Road on changing the routes of caravans is stressed. The features of the design and planning of cities, arising from active trade, stimulating the development of craft production, agricultural crops and animal husbandry, are being considered. The mutual influence of the construction traditions of various Central Asian countries on the formation of the architecture of caravanserais has been studied in more detail. The terms of the names of inns in Central Asia are understood - caravanserai, khan, hazelnuts, etc. The genesis and development of the architecture of inns from ancient times to the classical type, that formed during the Arab caliphate, is considered.
