Middle School English Teachers' Attitude and Motivation Towards ICT-Enabled Teaching in China
This paper reports the status of the use of ICT in English teaching in six middle schools in Wenzhou, China. A survey was conducted to collect the relevant data from 48 teachers. Five of them were interviewed afterward in order to know their views towards ICT-enabled teaching. The results indicated that the teachers had rather limited experience in ICT tools that support English learning. Many teachers saw ICT as a means to empower them to cover more content with their students within a shorter time span, mainly driven by the need to conform to the examination based assessment. They also believed that traditional teaching was more effective to address the current curriculum and assessment needs.
