This has increased the scope of research work in high gain dc-dc converter fed by renewable energy sources. This paper presents application of high gain dc-dc converter based on Cockcroft-Walton voltage multiplier. Cockcroft-Walton voltage multiplier eliminates the need of transformer to increase the voltage gain. Also, Cockcroft-Walton voltage multiplier maintains equal voltage stress on each stage devices, which maintains the modularity of the design. Work has been presented to show the application of this converter as power supply for resistive as well as capacitive load. In place of capacitive load, solid state Marx generator is used. Single dc source is used for testing and converter is operated in interleaved mode. Hardware is developed for 40 W;150V and various testing results are presented in this paper.
